shark bite fitting
fixing a broken water shut off valve
the first thing you will need is a plumbing fitting called a shark bite found at any home depot or lowe's store. the shark bite fitting allows you to do no sodering.
main water shut off valve
make sure when doing any plumbing work with your water supply lines you locate your main water shut off valve. the main shut off valve is 99% of the time located in your basement of your house if you have a basement. when you think you have located your main water shut off valve turn it clock wise to turn of main water supply. if you think you have located it go to the sink where you are doing the work and turn on the faucet. water should come out and then slowly stop and then you can start working. if water does not stop you have not located the main water shut off valve so you might have to look for another valve. the main shut off valve is usually by an exterior wall.

first undo your water line that connects to the shut off valve. now using your pipe cutter cut as close to the old shut off valve as you can to leave you room for you shark bite fitting. with the old shut off valve cut off the pipe that's left over slip your shark bite fitting over the pipe
make sure when slipping over the shark bite on the copper you push it in till it stops . so now cut a inch and halfe of your cpvc and put it in the other end of the shark bite fitting and do the same push it in till it stops. and the cpvc end is where you will slip the shut off valve on
when you buy the new shut off valve make sure it's for cpvc. at home depot or lowes store in the plumbing department they have shut off valves in one area but have several kinds. the shut off valve box's are all yellow but the box's are all color coded the one for cpvc is a brown and yellow box. (note your new shut off valve will come with a little extra round brass fitting just throw that away you wont need it.
somtimes you will have a straight water line from your faucet to your shut off valve. you can make it easier by getting flexible water lines from home depot or lowe's one end will be 3/8'' of an inch on the end where you hook up at the shut off valve and 1/2'' on other end where you hook it up to the sink. it should be in the same section where you buy the new shut off valve.when your done hooking up your water line to your new valve go and turn on main water valve
joining the new valve over the c.p.v.c
take a little bit of glue and glue around the edge of cpvc pipe now take and put a little glue inside the new valve where they will join together take the valve and slip it over the cpvc end of the pipe and your new shut of valve is complete. give the glue about 10-15 minutes to harden
