there is a wonder full thing that lowe's and home depot carry now it's called a shark bite fitting. the shark bite fitting allows you to connect copper, cpvc, with out glueing or sodering the only tool you need is a pipe cutter

 make sure when doing any plumbing work with your water supply lines you locate your main water shut off valve. the main shut off valve is 99% of the time located in your basement of your house if you have a basement. when you think you have located your main water shut off valve turn it clock wise to turn of main water supply. if you think you have located it go to the sink where you are doing the work and turn on the faucet. water should come out and then slowly stop and then you can start working. if water does not stop you have not located the main water shut off valve so you might have to look for another valve. the main shut off valve is usually by an exterior wall.

where ever a leak might be all you need to do is cut the old fitting out. go to home depot or Lowe's match up the fitting meaning if its a 90 degree turn in your pipe or a 45 degree and if it is half inch pipe or three quarters inch if you cant tell the difference take the part you cut out and take it with you to the store. say if you have a 90 degree turn in your water pipe that was leaking simpley cut out the pipe fitting with your pipe cutter. take it with you and match that old fitting you cut out with the new shark bite fitting and simply all you have to do is take your new shark bite fitting back home and slip each end of the pipe into the new fitting. making sure that you push your pipe in at each end of you shark bite fitting till it stops and problem solved. don't be afraid to ask an associate for help
